La Runa TCG: Bilingual Shopify Storefront

A bilingual (EN/ES) e-commerce site for a Magic: The Gathering shop in Pereira, Colombia, with a working cart and full Shopify Storefront GraphQL integration. Delivered as three distinct visual design proposals behind a stakeholder-facing chooser to drive client design decisions.
Architecture
A Next.js storefront that treats Shopify purely as a headless commerce backend, plus a separate multi-variant proposal app used to land on a final design with the client.
Step 1
Shopify Storefront API
Product, inventory, and checkout data is fetched via GraphQL through a single data-access layer.
Step 2
Next.js App Router frontend
Pages render with TypeScript and Tailwind, with a custom i18n layer powering the EN/ES bilingual experience.
Step 3
Client-side cart
Cart state is held in localStorage and handed off to Shopify's checkout at the end of the flow.
Step 4
Design proposal chooser
A separate password-gated app presents three fully built visual directions side by side so the client can compare live, interactive versions rather than static mockups.
Key decisions
- Built a single Shopify data-access module rather than scattering GraphQL calls across pages, keeping the storefront swappable if the backend ever changes.
- Delivered three complete, interactive design variants instead of static comps, since a working prototype settles design debates faster than a screenshot.
- Wrote a custom i18n layer instead of pulling in a full framework, since the site only needed two languages and a fixed set of routes.
